Neath Port Talbot council’s Environment Director Gareth Nutt, speaking on a trip associated with near finished development on Thursday as contractors began painting the wall space salmon pink, stated: “We chose to call it the Aberavon Leisure and Fitness Centre once the Afan Lido was an iconic structure of history but it is some thing amazing.”

an opening day is not fixed for leisure center but officials expect members of the general public to start out enjoying its services early in 2016.

Ali Thomas, frontrunner of Neath Port Talbot Council said: “Im very happy to see great development becoming made on the building associated with brand-new leisure centre.

'Facility we are able to all be proud of'

“This is going to be a wonderful facility we could all be happy with and a center point in enhancing our strategy and eyesight for regenerating your whole area.

“The brand new Aberavon Leisure and Fitness Centre could be the most recent in a number of improvements throughout the last couple of years having transformed the appearance of the seafront and added to its increased appeal for residents and visitors.”

A spokeswoman for the council said: “With great development being made on Aberavon seafront, together with a £30m housing led regeneration programme underway in Port Talbot as well as the new Harbour means road providing immediate access towards seafront from the M4, the destination for the seafront as a year round location for visitors and residents is defined to grow further.”

'Very happy with progress'

A team of travellers in around 15 caravans relocated beside the new building in recent days but it is expected they will certainly move shortly.

Chris Mundow, Development Director with Corban Investments stated: “We’re very pleased utilizing the degree of development with this leading development.”

Neath Port Talbot council today wish more stores, cafes pubs and seafront domiciles in the previous Afan Lido and overflow carpark internet sites nearby which is sold for development.
