Glyncorrwg Ponds

The Glyncorrwg Ponds are a few miles outside Port Talbot set in the Afan Valley. Like most places in South Wales, Glyncorrwg was known for coal mining, but the last mine closed in 1970. Since then the area has totally changed and gone back to the lush green valley it once was. The manmade ponds were made by the diversion of the River Corrwg down into three crystal clear lakes in the center of the valley. In the area around the ponds there is a diverse habitat for wildlife and fauna with many interesting specimens to to be seen, with the slopes of the surrounding valley covered in fir trees. Glyncorrwg Ponds also have facilities for walking, fishing, rowing, canoeing and mountain bike routes. There is a mountain bike & visitor centre including a cafe' and bike shop, a picnic area and a Caravan Site that can cater for 20 touring caravans with large pitches and hook-ups for six caravans, toilets and showers.
